Sunshine

This is a hard one to write.....Real hard.

I met a beautiful pre-teen girl at UMC several weeks ago named Sunshine....beautiful girl...full of love and life...Gorgeous eyes...and just a pretty soul...

She found out that I was judging American Idol locally, said she wished she could get out of the hospital to tryout...Aimee told her to sing for Judge Dee now...sing for all of us now...and she sang a Rihanna song, "Take A Bow"...it was beautiful...it was....

When I returned to UMC last Thursday...to ask Sunshine to come to the Playroom...Rebecca and I knocked on her door...she was in bed, in her room, not doing well at all......I was so shocked and it hurt to see her like that.....it was painful...her legs were cold....and her breathing labored...and all she could say was that she was tired.....tired.....

As we closed up Playroom Thursday, we all stopped by Sunshine's room...Rebecca, Tara, Aimee Stacie and I to say goodbye to her for the evening.....she was covered in blankets...and labored but she recognized us....we asked if she wanted TV on...anything...she said no...the lights were off...did she want light...door open....no.....just tired.....I rubbed her legs...touched her feet.....rubbed her arm....I knew, I knew, felt it....she was extremely ill......

I told her I would see her this Thursday...told her it was all gonna be OK...I promise.........

I got a call late this afternoon....Sunshine died Saturday.........

I volunteer there every Thursday....I work 3rd floor, the cancer floor and know they are very very sick ill children....but it is all worth it... this is my first kid to lose...... it is hard and hurts......

I will remember that little girl...that angel God has now on his side.....singing...........

The Pecan Tree

Having dinner at Amerigo's, one of my favorite restaurants in Jackson area, get call from K 26 yr old sister mother of Lauryn, my angel....that a tree has fallen in the back yard at Mom's...on the garage near the pool.

Come over now she says.

Eating....will afterwards.....

Well.....folks are on roof, on ladder, K and her husband are holding ropes to the tree won't hit the house....Momma has 10 month old Lauryn in house, past her bedtime BTW......

Momma, holding Lauryn, opens back door and screams...Move her before she gets hurt......everyone is huh, move who....she yells, move her before before she gets hurts......one asks, move who???? Momma yells, move Mary before she gets hurt.....B-in-Law says Mary who......well, there's a statue of Mary in my Mother's garden.....ROFL....and she wanted Mary moved next to the house before any more worked progressed...ROFL....I swear it was the funny damn thing ever.....I mean hello, what about her CHILDREN out there with a massive tree??? Then B-in-Law said, hey what about Joseph...which was not Joseph, but St. Fransis....ROFL!!!!!!!

My family...........and the Pecan tree.....and Mary are safe......ROFL!
